Praised for his “finely focused and well-mannered” voice (Dallas Morning News), tenor Brian Wallin has “proved [to be] another gifted tenor…who took the stage with flair and commitment” (Opera Today). The 2023-2024 season brings new role debuts beginning with performances in Tom Cipullo’s Glory Denied as Younger Thompson and a return to both Arizona Opera as Count Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia and Annapolis Opera as Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore. Later this season Wallin will make his Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra debut as the tenor soloist in Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana.
During the 2022-2023 season, Wallin appeared as Brighella in Ariade auf Naxos with Arizona Opera, Basilio/Don Curzio in Le nozze di Figaro with Annapolis Opera, and Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance with Pacific Opera Project. During the 2021-2022 season, Wallin was seen as Male Chorus in Benjamin Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia with An Opera Theatre (AOT), and made debuts with Opera Baltimore as L’Abate di Chazeuil in Adriana Lecouvreur, and a highly exciting debut with Opéra de Montréal debut as Tamino The Magic Flute.
Previous seasons include performances with Austin Opera (Rigoletto) Opéra Royal de Versailles (The Ghosts of Versailles), Opéra National de Bordeaux and Théâtre du Capitole (Candide), Lyric Opera of the North (St. Matthew Passion), and the Atlanta Ballet (Carmina Burnana). Wallin has made appearances in many contemporary works including world premieres with Minnesota Opera (The Fix) and Fort Worth Opera (JFK) as well as regional premieres of Independence Eve with Opera Birmingham and The Poe Project Operas also with Fort Worth Opera.
Wallin has appeared as a Young Artist with The Glimmerglass Festival, Palm Beach Opera, Opera Saratoga, and Fort Worth Opera. He proudly received both his Bachelor and Master degrees from the University of Maryland and the Maryland Opera Studio.
